Laurie A. Lindamer, PhD

Laurie is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and serves as the Director of the Education and Dissemination Unit for the VA Center of Excellence for Stress and Mental Health (CESAMH) and Director of Education for the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) Mental Health Care Line. Laurie received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1994 from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She completed an APA-approved internship at UCSD/VASDHS, specializing in neuropsychology, and then trained as a post-doctoral research fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry at UCSD. She joined the UCSD faculty in 1999 and VASDHS in 2002.


Her research interests have been directed at designing and testing psychosocial interventions for health behaviors for persons with psychiatric disorders, and the implementation of evidence-based practices and health technology. In addition, she has been actively involved in the development of academic community partnerships to promote the implementation of evidence-based psychosocial interventions both in the VA and in the community.


Laurie serves on the UCSD Department of Psychiatry’s Chair Advisory Board on Diversity, as well as on the Department of Psychiatry’s Mentoring Committee.
